Roller Coaster Knott’s Berry Farm - Amusement Park
Listing Description
Knott’s Berry Farm is a celebrated 57-acre theme park located in Buena Park, California. As the first theme park in the United States, it began with modest origins tied to the Knott family’s berry farming venture.
In 1920, Walter and Cordelia Knott acquired the property to farm berries. Walter Knott is well-known for developing and perfecting the boysenberry—a hybrid berry that became a signature offering at the park. During the Great Depression, Cordelia Knott began serving fried chicken from her home, which quickly became wildly popular. To keep guests entertained while they waited, Walter built a Ghost Town section modeled after the Old West, which evolved into a major ride attraction.
Amusement Parks CA - Get Your Thrill On
Today, run by Six Flags Entertainment, the park features four distinct districts:
Ghost Town is themed to an Old West frontier experience. This area features attractions like the Calico Mine Ride and the iconic GhostRider coaster, which is widely considered one of the best wooden roller coasters in the world.
Fiesta Village celebrates California’s Spanish and Mexican heritage with festive architecture, vibrant artwork, and energy. This district focuses on flat rides that create a festive atmosphere.
The Boardwalk captures the classic high-energy Southern California beach lifestyle. It homes major thrill machines like the vertical-drop coaster HangTime and the ultra-fast Xcelentifier.
Camp Snoopy is a lush, Sierras-themed playground built specifically for younger children. This area is home to Snoopy and the beloved Peanuts gang, offering rides perfect for kids.
The park has long been known for its food. Visitors can feast at the legendary Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant, which sits near the entrance. Seasonal highlights include the Boysenberry Festival in spring, which celebrates the park’s agricultural past with berry-themed treats, and Knott’s Scary Farm in fall, which pioneered modern Halloween haunted haunts with mazes and monster-filled streets.
The property also includes a hotel and waterpark, making it a full-on family destination.
