Amusement Parks Toronto, Ontario

Toronto Zoo

Listing Description

TORONTO ZOO

Welcome to the Toronto Zoo, Canadas premier wildlife destination. Spanning 287 hectares of natural beauty, this
world-class zoo is recognized as the largest in Canada and ranks among the top attractions nation wide.

(I wish they’d bring back the monorail. it was a state of the art attraction.  The zoomobile is not an ideal solution.  The lack of the monorail makes this gigantic zoo harder to navigate.)

LOCATION AND HOURS
Located in the Scarborough area of Toronto, the zoo operates on flexible schedules. Weekdays and weekends run from 9:30am to 6:00pm, with extended hours on holidays until 6:00pm. Weekday hours are typically 9:30am to 4:30pm.  Advance ticket booking is recommended for a smooth experience.

SIZE AND SCALE
At 287 hectares, the Toronto Zoo is Canada’s largest zoo. The grounds feature over 10 kilometers of walking trails
that guide visitors around seven distinct zoogeographic regions. Youll encounter more than 300 different species
ranging from polar bears to tropical wildlife. This massive scale is what keeps families entertained for hours or even
an entire day.

An Ode To The Toronto Zoo

MAJOR ZONES
The zoo is divided into continent-specific areas that take visitors on a global journey:

– African Savanna
– Indo-Malaya
– Canadian Domain
– Americas
– Australasia
– Asia
– Tundra Trek

The Tundra Trek stands out as a massive 10-acre Arctic wildlife exhibit. Here you can get close to polar bears, Arctic
wolves, and reindeer. The exhibit is designed to mimic natural tundra conditions, allowing animals to roam in
spacious, appropriate environments. This is often a highlight for visitors and a major draw for the zoo.

FEATURED ATTRACTIONS
The Kids Zoo offers interactive experiences for younger guests, encouraging learning and play. During summer months,
the Splash Island water play area provides a refreshing option for families to cool off. These features add depth to a
standard zoo visit and make it suitable for all ages.

CONSERVATION LEADERSHIP
What truly sets the Toronto Zoo apart is its commitment to wildlife preservation. It is involved in vulnerable species
survival and reintroduction programs, especially for Canadian animals like the polar bear. The zoo maintains an
impressive on-site wildlife health center, ensuring top-tier medical care for animals. This medical facility is often
visible to guests passing by, demonstrating the facilities importance.

The institution conducts captive breeding and wildlife research programs that contribute to global conservation
efforts worldwide. These programs help maintain animal populations and ensure survival for endangered species.

TICKETS AND MEMBERSHIP
Membership options are available for repeat visitors, along with various pricing tiers. Check the Toronto Zoo website for current rates, advance ticket booking, and special offers for families.

AWARDS AND RECOGNITION
The Toronto Zoo has earned recognition including the 2025 Ontario Tourism Award. It consistently sets the standard for immersive animal habitats and conservation practice in North America.

PLANNING YOUR VISIT
The sheer size of the park allows for a full day visit. Bring water, comfortable shoes, and consider bringing a map.
The walking trails cover significant distance, so plan accordingly. For summer, take advantage of the water play area.
For the full experience, start early to explore the African Savanna and Tundra Trek before crowds arrive.

For more information on hours, pricing, and booking, visit the official Toronto Zoo website. The attraction is a
must-visit for anyone interested in wildlife, conservation, and Toronto tourism.
